Guy Brown
Guy Brown works
on a diverse range of projects including stage design and production of photo
shoots, the undertaking of one-off commissions as well as his own
self-initiated projects. Having recently staged his first solo-show during the London Design Festival
2009 at Tent London, Guy has been continuing his pursuit of new and innovative
production techniques and combining his findings with an interest in the
re-appropriation of the every day and the overlooked objects into new and
intriguing forms and products. Guy’s work has been widely published on an international scale, and
recent press includes Wallpaper magazine, Icon magazine and the book, ‘Limited
Edition’ which featured his school chair project inspired by the work of Robin
Day.
Guy has worked
on commissions for Transport for Nottingham and Wallpaper amongst others, and
his work has been seen in exclusive retail spots including Liberty of London
and Mint. He lives and works
in Nottingham.
Alexena Cayless
After working
for 3 years with London based atelier Based Upon, Alexena Cayless is now
concentrating on her own collection of work. She is currently developing a number of new pieces,
including an extension of the ‘fly tip’ collection, alongside private
commissions. Her work
explores the close relationship between art and design, reflecting her training
as a sculptor as well as designer. Alexena’s work was profiled in the ‘Britain Can Still
Make It’ exhibition last September and is now stocked by Liberty. Alexena’s work has been featured recently in The Telegraph
and The Guardian.
Alexena lives
and works in South East London.
Sebastian Denver Hejna
Sebastian
Hejna’s designs tend to be playful and suggestive, and are quite often achieved
by re-appropriating existing objects to give old pieces new leases of life, and
steering people into rethinking their forgotten everyday items. Sebastian’s background as a joiner and
his professional work with CAD/CAM systems allow him to achieve a high level of
material and process understanding, and individual commissions have included
clients such as Urban Outfitters and luxury retail store Eco-Age owned by
British actor Colin Firth.
Recently Sebastian has been tutoring at the Loughborough University
School of art and design, an experience that has catalysed his interest in
nurturing the next generation of designers whilst continuing his own
development. His newly developed
interest in interior design began with a project managing role for Farm’s first
interior commission; a café in Northampton’s old Fish Market, and he is now
looking to pursue this interest with larger scale projects.
Sebastian lives
and works in East London.
Giles Miller
Giles Miller,
who’s award winning cardboard work has made many a press-headline, now has work
in production with Italian brands Dovetusai and newly-launched Italian
furniture giant Skitsch. Giles has worked on product and interior commissions for clients that
include Make Poverty History, Transport for Nottingham and Stella McCartney
amongst many others, and with his recent graduation from the Royal College of
Art in Kensington Giles is now showing work with the up and coming Gallery Fumi
in East London. Giles is
currently developing his range of products and surface materials from his
studio in Shoreditch, East London whilst also acting as a visiting tutor at Central
Saint Martins University.
Giles has won
two Hidden Art awards, and was shortlisted for the FX design award for
‘Breakthrough talent of the year 2009’, Homes and Gardens ‘Classic Design
